Deeper Into the Word

A Fresh Look at the Words Within the Word

Words matter. God cares about them and so should we. Going a little deeper into the Bible’s words can make an old passage new again, enriching your understanding of God’s message to his children. Why was this word chosen rather than that one? What does it imply in its original language that you can’t see in English? And without knowing Greek, how can you learn to explore the details of God’s Word for yourself?

Keri Wyatt Kent provides a fresh encounter with the most important words of the New Testament. Deeper Into the Word can be used as a daily devotional or as an easy-to-use reference tool. Either way, you’ll find yourself e:xcited by the wonders of God’s amazing Word.

This Mom’s Review

The author has emphasized the importance of reading the Bible itself and using this, along with other resources as references, not the final word.  The author has written this book, so that it can be used in a variety of ways:

As a Reference Volume to look up words you come across in your own daily Bible reading.

As a Study Guide to launch your own study of specific words.   If the word you’re interested in is not in the book, then you can use the book as a tutorial for doing your own word studies.

As a Devotional reading one chapter at a time.

I personally will be using the book mostly as a reference volume.  The author has used several resources, including the Strong’s Concordance, to write each word study.

I’ve done word studies before, and they really helped me think about what I’m reading and in return I understood more!  This book is a handy reference in getting me back into those much needed word studies!

A few of my favorite word studies from this book include:

  • Content/Contentment
  • Daughter
  • Justify/Justification
  • Perseverance
