A Tidbit Romance: Falling in Love with God’s Word One Devotion at a Time

When you think of the term “devotional,” do you get excited to read a delicious bite of God’s word, or do you consider the term a set-up for another shallow, ho-hum read with minimal scripture and knee-deep conviction?

In Erin Coss’ new book, A Tidbit Romance: Falling in Love with God’s Word One Devotion at a Time (July, 2010, k2e Books), you will experience devotions in a whole new light. Written from the perspective of Erin’s pen name, The Chicken Dance Mama, these fun Tidbits will allow you to get a refreshing view of the scriptures from a non-preachy approach.

Erin is a published author and speaker. She has published works in Revival Nation Magazine and books, including First Conversations (Bethesda Institute), My Surgery Journal and My Hospital Journal (k2e Books). Erin has also worked on the television series The Directors (Encore) and the television documentary The Genocide Factor (PBS).

Avery T. Willis, author of Learning to Soar and the MasterLife series, praised A Tidbit Romance, saying, “Erin Coss has admirably done the job of making us fall in love with the Word of God one devotion at a time. She uses everyday language to make truths come to life. You will be blessed to get it and give it to friends.”

Some delicious Tidbits discussed that set this devotional apart from the rest are:

• Why “ugly days” are a thing of the past.
• What the common saying Apple of His Eye really means.
• Why God handpicked you.

My Review:

Each devotional consists of Scripture (NIV, unless otherwise stated) and a page or two written by the author in relation to the Scripture provided.  It consists of two months of devotionals, each giving the reader a biblical character’s story or a passage from the Bible and showing how that story can fit into the reader’s life for personal application.  The devotionals are short enough to fit into a busy morning.

I encourage you to pick up a copy to add to your collection of devotionals, or make it your first, if you’ve never read a devotional.  You can sneak a peek of the book, visit the blog tour page for future reviews or read current reviews.

Thanks to the author for allowing me to receive a copy to review.
